Information and Referral

As part of the Community Services Network, AACOA refers clients to other agencies that can provide adequate services needed.

Lifeline

Enhances independent living with security and provides peace of mind for subscribers and their loved ones.  A home-based monitoring service that responds to subscribers' push of a button they wear whenever assistance or emergency help is needed.

Home Delivered Meals ("Meals on Wheels")

Hot, nourishing meals are delivered around noontime, Monday-Friday, to homebound clients.  Volunteers make most of the deliveries from our five congregate meal sites:  Main Office-Aiken, Gloverville, Jackson, Wagener, and Windham House.

Congregate Meals

Serves nutritious lunches daily at five locations around Aiken County:  Aiken (Agency), Gloverville, Jackson, Wagener, and Wyndham House.  Activities includes socialization, wellness and, educational information.

Enables infirmed clients to continue to live in their own homes independently.   These services assists with incidental activities of daily living or activities of daily living.  Home care services under the Old Americans Act are provided to individuals 60 or above; however, such service also targets those with little or no personal support.

The AACOA provides transportation to people throughout Aiken County. Aiken Area Council on Aging, Inc. (AACOA) operates the Aiken County Public Transit Best Friend Express (BFE) bus service. 

We also provide public and van transportation for:

People with disabilities

People living in designated rural areas of the county You must live within a three and a half-mile radius of the BFE bus service and complete a Dial-a-Ride      application form with your doctor's signature.  Then  you must call the AACOA before 11:00 a.m. at least one business day in advance of your appointment to set up van transport.
