Our Mission
To provide health, wellness, nutrition, transportation,
social and other services that enhance the quality of life, independence,
dignity and aid in the prevention of critical acute care needs of our community.
Company Profile
The
agency was organized in 1969 by a dedicated group of local volunteers who
thought that Aiken County needed a "focal point" for information,
referral and counseling for older adults and their families. AACOA received
its charter as a non-profit corporation from the South Carolina Secretary of
State in 1971.
The
organization has grown and developed over the years, with guidance from a
dedicated Board of Directors, support from an incredible group of hundreds of
volunteers from all parts of Aiken County, funding from many individuals,
local, federal and state sources and the efforts of a loyal and enthusiastic
staff to be a comprehensive multi-purpose agency.
In 1995,
The Board amended the agency's charter to add the provisions of transportation
services of the general public to our purpose.
